Welcome to the very first post in an entirely new category! Here is where I’ll archive words that I’ve come across that resonate with me, or that I’ve picked out in the most adventurous way possible when dealing with dictionaries – blindfolded.
Also, I’ve been looking for a place to write about writing. I think I can kill two birds with one stone here…
The inaugural word?

I like the new category! I would be interested to read about why or how you pick each word. You said you would pick a word that resonates with you or you pick blindly…what made you choose pilfer?
If I was creative enough or interesting enough (like you) to have a blog I would consider pilfering this category idea from you! But don’t worry, your idea is safe today!

Hi Kristen! And thanks for stopping by & taking the time to comment
I appreciate that!
I chose pilfer because it’s one of those words that are so common, but then you get re-introduced to them and discover a nuance to the word that makes it different from what you originally defined it as in your mind. (Did I mention I’m somewhat of a word geek?)
I came across it recently while trying to write a story. I wanted to describe a feeling of having something taken, but not as quick as the word steal(ing)… something that happens over time and unnoticeable until it was gone.
And as for blogging, you should do it! Writing does a body good. There’s no need to be creative or interesting for that matter. I started this blog in 2008 writing letters to my new born daughter to help me when I was feeling blue…. and it just kinda morphed.
