In just seven days, I will be realizing a dream! I will be in Park City, Utah for
THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL!

[insert giddy, high-ptched squeel here.]

I’ll be attending the film festival for the very first time as a volunteer. And I’ll be there for the full two weeks!

I’ll be working as a transportation liason.

When I was offered the volunteership, I was given a choice of a few jobs that best fit my resume. I picked the transportation liason job because 1) it gives you the most exposure to all the PEOPLE! 2) it kinda establishes you as a festival expert (and we all know about my delusions of grandeur), and 3) your shift is limited to just 4 hours – which means more free time for film-viewing, party-going and yes, even skiing!

Also, as a transportation liason, because of the nature of of the job, the festival puts you up in a condo (Mexican flophouse-style) – which is another reason I chose that particular job, because lodging during the festival costs an arm and a leg.

When I say Mexican-flophouse-style, I don’t mean to be derogatory. Just descriptive. It certainly will be very interesting to live with four other, complete stranger,  female roomates. Especially for this spoiled lady.

I’ve never ever had a roommate. Ever. (Unless you count that one semester when that one FREAK! pulled the towel off of my body, catching me totally off-guard… and rendering me immobile, just standing there in the middle of our dorm room. STARK NAKED).
Our very own version of the Real World.

Before you start hating me for this absolutely fabulous gig, I should tell you the bad news.

I have to stand outside for four hours. In temperatures that will reach highs of 30′s°F and lows of 13°F. In snow. And probably sometimes shoveling it.

There have even been record lows of down to -13°F and even -21°F!

So, what’s a girl to do when faced with these kind of numbers?

SHOP!

[smile]

While I’m there I’ll be live-tweeting and blogging my experiences. I’ll try not to inundate you with sightings of Tony Danza. But I can’t promise. If you’d like to follow (and you aren’t already), you can find me on Twitter, @flutiemcd.
