Recently, Juniper and I have been revisiting some our favorite spots in San Antonio. Last week we explored the Government Canyon State Natural Area. The last time we visited, it was Spring and all the flowers were in bloom, the catepillars roaming and the bees busy pollinating. Everything was lush and green and buzzing with life.
This time was very different. Very golden. Very dormant. But we love it just the same.

At just two years old, she's already a seasoned pro. That's my girl.

Wow! E. and I noticed a similar plant when we were walking through Comanche Lookout Park the other day. E. thought the blue berries were interesting, but I had no idea it was a Juniper plant! How cool.

i think this is just one of the many varieties of juniper… those blue berries are used to make gin
