I'm a peanut lover.

I like them brittled, spiced, candied, roasted, boiled… you name it, I'll probably like it. So when I heard that the Floresville Peanut Festival was in full swing? I packed up my appetite and the girl & made my way southward to the Peanut Capital of Texas.

My olafactory nerves on edge, I walked and walked through booths of food and crafts, through the small kiddie carnival and around the animal petting area, trying to sniff out that heavenly smell of roasted peanuts.

But after having walked around the entire festival grounds I came to the sad realization that the Floresville Peanut Festival? It's not so much about the peanut. (Despite the giant-sized peanut in the center of town.)

I'm not gonna lie, I was completely dissapointed.

That said, you shouldn't completely write off the Floresville Peanut Festival off your list of things to do. Take my dissapointment with a grain of salt. I've lived a good number of my years in the backyard of the Peanut Capital of the World. In fact, while living in Birmingham, Alabama I lived right down the road from the Peanut Depot. Needless to say, I've got some fairly lofty expectations.

To be perfectly honest, the girl and I had a great time. It was a cute small-town fall festival set in historic downtown Floresville and if you've yet to visit, you should because there's a lot more to life than just peanuts (but don't tell Charles Shultz).

Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard, I had to read this one out loud to Jimmy. We live about 15 minutes from Floresvillle & tried to go last year but showed up just before the Parade. There were so many people there my husband freaked out and drove us home. I’ve been giving him grief for it ever since taunting him with tales of all the peanut goodies we could have enjoyed – Boiled, Roasted, Peanut Brittle maybe? I’ve been dying to know.
I can only imagine the sarcasm I would have had to deal with from the grumpiest, non-social man alive had I managed to drag him to the festival this weekend and there were hardly any peanuts. It would have been epic.
Plus horses, rabbits, rides & goats … the kids would have had a ball.
Seriously, only one man? Kicking myself for not going

    Stacy!
thanks for dropping by & commenting :)
    seriously. one man.
there were actually two booths selling peanut related products. but just one of them was actively roasting peanuts – the other one was selling their prepared peanut foods like (peanut butter, cookies, cakes, etc.)
but i was expecting a peanut explosion and got merely a little firecracker instead.
(i asked around… apparently the peanut crop doesn’t get a huge ROI, thus only one or two farmers actually have a peanut crop.)
regardless, a good time was had.
