Training Update: Week 7

I received some motivation in the mail last week...

That's Wallace. He's modeling for me because he's been helping me train lately... going on a few of my runs, making sure I don't pee my pants.

I'm just remembering the time, several years ago, when I first told any one out loud that I was going to run a marathon. I was so excited, I remember it vividly.

I told this person that I'd planned on running the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco - because what a great city... but more importantly because the fabulous Tiffany necklace that I'd be adorned with at the finish line.

You'd think that the next words out of this person's mouth would be words of encouragement but instead I heard something like this: "I hate to break this to you but that Tiffany necklace is not that great."

I totally let this person bring me down. Needless to say I did not train for that race.

Today I'm training for that triathlon in October. It's been tough, no doubt. But one of the things that is getting me through is seeing her face in the pavement that my feet pound.
