On Mother's Day, Tim, June & I went for a 4-mile hike in the Government Canyon State Natural Area. It was THE BEST MOTHER'S DAY EVER! Considering this is only my second Mother's Day as a mother, I realize it doesn't mean much... but it truly was ba-ba-ba-bad to the bone. (If you haven't already figured this out: I'm a geek).
Government Canyon is beautiful. And abundant with wildlife. Specifically in the form of insects. Colorful insects.
And after our amazing hike through Government Canyon, we ate!
This is a Mexican Pizza (and Margarita) from La Gloria Mexican Restaurant.
La Gloria is located at the head of the San Antonio Riverwalk's Museum Reach section, next to the Pearl Brewery. It's a fantastic set-up. The seating outside is perfect for sipping on your favorite beverage as you let your kids run around the huge lawn out back. I give it a 8 for ambiance. I would've given it a 10 if it weren't for all of those pesky little flies that dart from dish to dish and table to table.
After we stuffed our bellies, we took a romantic stroll down the banks of the Riverwalk and were greeted with an amazing public art installation by artist Donald Lipski, entitled F.I.S.H.:
This school of 25 7-foot long fish is suspended from an I-35 underpass. The best part is at night, when the fish magically light up! Surreal.
