Coconut Oil

My coveted jar of coconut oil.

A few years ago, a very good friend of mine gave me the most awesome Christmas present EVER. She gave me a mini velveteen Santa bag full of her favorite beauty products. When I got to the bottom, there was a clear plastic water bottle, labeled "Coconut Oil" and it was full of this solid white stuff. I was a little weirded out. But I took the time to read the pamphlet that accompanied it and learned of all the its uses: hair & skin moisturizer and softener, cooking oil, sexual lubricant, medicinal purposes; and its benefits

Though I haven't cooked with it, or used it medically… or as a sexual lubricant (yet). I HAVE used it as a hair & skin moisturizer and I LOVE IT! I use it all over my body, especially my knees, elbows, heels and the ends of my hair (while it's still damp from the shower). I used it all during my pregnancy with Juniper… and ladies? Can I just take a moment to brag that I have no stretch marks? It, of course, smells like coconut… so after applying it, you smell like summer–in a good way.

It is a very economical product. A little goes a very long way and due to its high saturated fat content, it can last up to two years. Also interesting about coconut oil: it has a melting point of 76 degrees. So depending on where you live & the temperature of your home, it can either be solid, liquid or in between. My favorite state is in between (as shown above).

If you're intrigued, try it . I triple-dog dare you.
